Orlando Jones is a native of Warrenton NC where he graduated from Warren County High School in 1995. He continued his education at St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh, NC, where he was a member of the Falcons Baseball team. He obtained his Bachelors of Science degree in Human Performance and Wellness and he has Master Degree in Psychology, with a concentration in Sport Psychology.
Orlando brings with him a wealth of experience from all levels of baseball. He currently runs his own baseball organization The Raleigh Blackhawks with current and past teams from 11U to 18U. He has played an instrumental part in coaching and helping over 20 former Blackhawks reach their goals of playing college baseball.
Coaching and being involved in the game of baseball is his passion. He was the former head baseball coach at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School baseball team for five years, before resigning to spend more time watching his son play the game he loves. While at Southeast Raleigh he played a vital role in the successful renovation of the baseball facility.
Other coaching stints include Assistant Coach/Pitching Coach at William Peace University, where he coached and recruited incoming pitchers. He also has had the opportunity to volunteer with North Carolina Central University baseball and his alma mater St. Augustine’s University Baseball program.
Currently Orlando enjoys having the time to attend his own children’s sporting events with his wife of 21 years, Jenell.
Landon, his oldest son is currently a sophomore at UNC-Pembroke. His son Jadon is a current Senior at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School, has committed to play baseball at William Peace University next year and will be joining the Oak City Gliders this summer. His daughter Austyn is currently a freshman at Southeast Raleigh High.
He is an avid UNC fan (Go Heels!). His favorite MLB team is the Atlanta Braves and he loves his New York Giants!
