We would like to welcome back Aaron Smith as our 2024 Oak City Glider head coach. We are so excited to have him back in our dugout and motivating our offense from the 3rd base line. Aaron has baseball running through his veins and has had the same journey as many of our players. He committed to playing baseball for Winston-Salem State University after high school and sadly after his freshman year the college discontinued the baseball program. Aaron adjusted and transferred to Greensboro College, where he played ball for the remaining three years. Aaron was a two-way player – catcher and outfielder!
This is Aaron’s third year coaching in the Old North State League. He started off as the assistant coach of the Swepsonville Sweepers in 2021. We were fortunate to have Aaron join our Gliders in 2022 as our new head coach. With his vison and leadership, we are going to soar in 2023 and we can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve for this summer.
Aaron has also been coaching and conducting lessons with younger ball players for the Riptide Baseball Academy for the past six years. Like we said earlier, baseball is in his veins, and it shows on and off the field with his players.
